Ear Pinning - Correction
Ear Pinning on children is not uncommon, and may be performed due to a road accident, abnormalities, or cancer treatments.
Ear Pinning on Children is one of the most common procedures.
Ear Pinning surgery is known as Otoplasty.
Ear pinning in Children may only be performed if a child is over the age of seven years, (exceptions are made in special cases).
The average age is 12 years but will depend on individual, the decision of the parents, also the maturity of the child.
Surgery is a big decision, most children when being teased, or bullied by friends or other pupils at school cannot wait for the procedure to take place, both the child and the parents must be aware of the surgery involved, and the after care that is important for a good recovery and the end results.
Most cosmetic surgery procedures such as ear pinning will be performed under a local anaesthetic and a light sedation, the ear pinning procedure will require an anaesethic injection to eliminate any pain.
In a normal ear pinning procedure an amount of cartilage and skin is removed, the ears reshaped, and then stitched, so they sit further back against the head.
Some patients may only require one ear correction, but in most cases both the ears pinned.
After ear pinning the child may experience a degree of pain, this is normally controlled by tablets or other methods depending on the age of the patient.
Bandages will be placed around the head and ears, and left for several days before removing them, which is normally done by the surgeon when removing any stitches, sometimes a bandage must still be worn but usually a sweat band is allowed.
What is the Recovery Period After Ear Pinning Surgery?
No swimming for at least 4 weeks.
The ears must be protected from any knocks or bumps.
No sun for 4 weeks.
No physical sports-football,gym,boxing ect.
Rest as much as possible.
Avoid getting the bandage wet.
It is recommended that children who are considering having the ear pinning surgery, be carried out in the schools summer holiday, giving the child time to rest, recover and the wounds to heal.
Ear Pinning
Protruding ears may cause distress, and have a massive impact on levels of self esteem, and self confidence.
Ear pinning is one of the most established cosmetic surgery procedures that proceed to give a good balance to the appearance between the ears and the facial features.
Ear pinning known as Otoplasty reduces protruding ears, whilst still maintaining a natural appearance, and improving self confidence.
Younger children and teenagers may suffer emotional stress and lack of self confidence because the ears protrude out wards from the side of the head, leaving the ears sticking out, which may also give the appearance of the ears being larger and longer.
Ear pinning is a cosmetic surgery procedure that is reliable and safe. Ear pinning is designed to reduce larger ears, ear lobes, and pinning the ears back that protrude too far out from the side of the head.
Depending on what type of ear pinning surgery is right for you, as there are different procedures for ear correction surgery; the procedure would normally take only two hours and may be performed by a light sedation.

Ear Pinning Surgery - Stairplasty
Plastic Surgery can be performed, if the ear is split, which normally comes from wearing earrings that are too heavy over a long period. Plastic surgery is used to repair the hole by replacing it with tissues in that area, and using Stairplasty to avoid the problem from re-occuring.
