There are up to 85%of pets over the age of three or four years that dental disease can affect. Most dogs have 28 baby teeth, cats usually have 26, around 6 to 8 months the baby teeth fall out and are replaced by their permanent one’s, most dogs have 48 permanent teeth as cats have 30.Some Animals baby teeth do not fall out, if this happened it could cause the underneath to erupt which could cause a lot of problems such as increase tartar, bad smelling breath and a bad bite.
Caring For Your Pet
Get help from your local vet regularly, check for bad bite, Bad Smelling Breath and a build up of tartar.
Identifying Dental Problems
The first thing that’s noticeable will be bad breath this is caused by gum disease. Check your pet has not broken or has any missing teeth, also check for a build up of tartar.
Dental Disease
Dental disease can progress in stages; if this disease is caught early it will prevent a lot of damage.
Bacteria and Infection
Gums and teeth that have become infected can cause problems with the kidney and heart it could also lead to infecting the joints, if layers of tartar are allowed to build up
Causing bacteria which can spread around the body and mouth, this could also lead to internal problems.
Treatment
After taking you pet to the vets that’s in need of treatment, your vet will probably advise cleaning the teeth, and do a pre anaesthesia blood test to make sure your pets liver, kidneys and blood counts are normal, most pets will be put on a course of antibiotics prior to the vets cleaning of the teeth to reduce infection.

Regular check up with your local vet, check for signs of bad breath and bad bite
